Tomorrow, 3 million Let's Encrypt certificates will be revoked, so you should probably check that yours are not among them:

I hear regularly that people see #Matrix / #Riot as a IRC client similar to IRCCloud but not as a independent messenger and protocol. This also has the effect sometimes, that they leave Matrix again as soon as IRC become less important for them. Bridges are great but sometimes I have the impression that it would help Matrix if they would talk less about the Bridges and more about the strength of Matrix as such. I'm the only one with this impression? #nf

@dosnostalgic Eh, what?!? Also, at the time, before the internet I guess the threat model was still steam pipes 😂 Rather, today it should say, like, cheap IP cameras that were on the public network...

@cypnk @jordan31 That reminds me how, weirdly, where I live, commercial buildings need to have two exit routes from any given point whereas homes don't! Considering the evacuation of a factory, workshop or lab is practiced regularly and one will not have to deal with people just woken up by the fire alarm, that seems not right to have lower standards at home...

@yogthos @kraehenpost One may be surprised how prevalent accidents with forklifts are! - I expect the picture to be a faithful reproduction of an actual "record attempt"!!! 😬

Gotte say though that "horseplay" is just a beautiful word 😄

@sir @codesections Having been around since Linux 1.2-ish, I found this intriguing to ponder. And actually, the only massive singular change I can recall is the move from a.out to ELF binary format. Maybe the iptables introduction and farewell could count, too. Everything else went really gradually... at least that's how I remember it. Userland had much more step changes.

Good to see that nginx 1.17 is slated to include HTTP/3 support. Firefox supports the current Draft (because we have a Draft version, yay) since November, so this is promising, all things considered. Good work by all involved – some of the working group discussion minutes read intense.

If you want to read up on HTTP/3, I'd recommend the short booklet by Daniel Stenberg (the curl developer):

@jwildeboer Agree! The second problematic dimension to this is, in my view, the confusion that is being created around the concept and terminology of a "liberal state".

Whilst a progressive citizen may interpret this in terms of the state actively protecting pluralism, privacy, practicing restraint in policing and refraining from interference in decidedly private matters, certain powerful individuals appear to prefer an entirely powerless - and therefore lawless - state instead.

We have computed the very first chosen-prefix collision for SHA-1. To put it in another way: all attacks that are practical on MD5 are now also practical on SHA-1.

We have reduced the cost of a collision attack from 2^64.7 to 2^61.2, and the cost of a chosen-prefix collision attack from 2^67.1 to 2^63.4.

Demo: The legacy branch of GnuPG (version 1.4) is vulnerable. We have created two PGP keys with different UserIDs and colliding certificates.

@maelig @tsturm Well, if the devil bothers to be summoned by javascript, what would happen if the same chant be performed in Adobe Flash?? 🙀

@fribbledom Its a "Santechi" charger (hadn't heard of the company before). For model and spec, see photo. The great thing is that is has a euro plug instead of fixed prongs, so can easily be adapted for intercontinental travel. Plus it pumps out a lot of watts over PD 😁

@fribbledom That reminds me when I got ecstatic seeing the first dual USB-C PD + dual USB-A QC travel charger come to market. That thing comes with me everywhere! Charging laptop, tablet, phone and smartwatch simultaneously from one source: 🎉 🎉🎉

@uint8_t @cypnk There really should be a field in app stores that describes the language / build system of the "app". Kinda like the nutritional info on food. That would help not consuming what's not "wholesome" 😆

The French government switched to Matrix, the German government evaluates free, open and federated messaging solutions, Nextcloud Talk became a great Slack replacement, public authorities in Germany consider a mass exodus from Twitter & Co after EuGH ruling, next stop Mastodon... Seems like we have both, the (political) momentum and the technology to make 2020 a great year for the free & open internet!
